A remarkable woman, Begum Samru, or Joanna Nobilis Sombre (1753- 1836) was an able administrator maintaining an army of mercenaries. As a young nautch girl, she fell in love with a European mercenary, and over time, became the ruler of Sardhana.
Celebrating the Begum and her times,
the Samru range comprises of exquisite vases, jars and candles, in delicate indo- european shapes hand crafted with fine laboratory glass and turned wooden lids. The distinctly Indian intoxicating fragrances of jasmine, cinnamon, clove would most likely have accompanied her as attars (indian perfume) in her campaigns.
Celebrate the festive season with the enticing Begum, and the ethereal objects, on their own or in charming clusters!
